Refunds can be used when you want to show a full/partial refund back to a patient.
Go To: BILLING > PATIENT ACCOUNTING
Using this option will still account for the original payment & any original payments will still appear in Payment Summary Reports. If you are needing to reverse a payment that was applied in error & wish to fully remove a payment from the system & not have it appear in accounting history, you should use the delete/revert payment option in Section 4.1 outlined in the manual.
PROVIDING A REFUND TO A PATIENT:

  1. Select Action: From the dropdown select 'Refund'
  2. Amount ($): Enter the payment amount (bottom left)
  3. Method Of Refund: Select method for how patient is to be refunded (for Credit Card enter last 4 digits of card, or Personal Check enter Check #)
  4. Post Refund To Encounter: You must connect the refund to a DOS/Encounter/Extra Charge & under 'Post' click the Show tab to display the CPT code line items
  5. Enter/Post the amount of the refund to the CPT Code box.
  6. Click Save (bottom right) when done.
